Anjali Shah

Meet Anjali. A 10-year old girl with stars in her eyes. The performing arts are her jam. She acts, sings, plays the guitar, and even writes her own songs. Anjali dreams of starring in a movie or acting on Broadway one day.

When I grow up...

I want to be an actress. I would love to star in a Broadway musical so that I can sing (my second love!) and act at the same time.  After Broadway, I want to be in movies... comedies, dramas, thrillers. I want to do it all.

Describe yourself in three words

Strong female lead

Brookies' Bracelets role

I'm a product designer for the business. I draw inspiration from the people and places around me for all the latest designs. It's been a fun way to be creative, and an even more fun way to spend time with my friends.

A movie you love

Hidden Figures. It's a movie about Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, three brilliant women who were the brains behind a NASA mission. It's a story that I didn't know about before the film. I think it's important for these kinds of stories to get told. When I'm an actress one day, I hope I get to act in movies like Hidden Figures. Maybe I'll even make movies like Hidden Figures.

Favorite scene from a movie

The Parent Trap handshake, hands down. Maya and I have it memorized.

Happy place

Broadway. There's so much energy in Times Square. I've only been to Broadway once, and it was one of the best nights of my life. My parents took my sister and me to see Wicked. I can't wait to visit again one day, and in the meantime, I have show tunes playing on my speakers pretty much always.

Favorite female character

Can't pick one, so I'm going to pick all three Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton. I haven't seen the show, but I listen to the music non-stop. WERK!

Who do you admire?

My mom and dad. They immigrated to this country from India so that my sister and I could have more opportunities.  They didn't know anyone in the United States and only had $25 in their pockets.  They're the bravest people I know.

Something funny

The Bing Bong dream sequence from Inside Out.  I love the idea of dreams being a form of theatrics.

A quote you love

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!
— Audrey Hepburn

A food you could eat every day for the rest of your life

My dad makes the best homemade Indian food. I love a big plate of my favorites -- chicken tikka masala, chole, and lots of naan.  So good! I also have a big sweet tooth, and if I were allowed, I'd have ice cream cake every day.

Your future.

Crossing my fingers that I get the lead in the school musical this year. I also want to keep growing Brookies' Bracelets, make the best designs possible, and find ways to give back to the community through the business.
